Senators don’t want Heatley in camp
It can’t be a shocker that the Ottawa Senators supposedly don’t even want Dany Heatley(notes) to show his face in training camp, according to the Toronto Sun. The guy surprised the team last spring when he asked for a trade.
Training camp for the team starts on Sept. 12 and general manager Bryan Murray would supposedly love to have a trade in place by then that would send Heatley packing. Rumors persist that the San Jose Sharks have a whole bunch of interest, but might not have the talent to trade in order to get the job done.
Still, Murray hasn’t apparently had a lot of choices to pick from when it comes to Heatley trade scenarios and the rumor is that the team doesn’t want the circus to come to town, which it will on a daily basis if Heatley actually shows up to camp. So Murray may be lowering his expectations on what he’ll get back for Heatley.
Any way you slice it, you can say goodbye to Heatley in Ottawa at some point this season.
