Bruins’ Savard likely done for season

Marc SavardBoston Bruins center Marc Savard(notes) got leveled on Sunday the Pittsburgh PenguinsMatt Cooke(notes) and Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli is saying it is very possible that Savard will be out for the 17 games left in the season after suffering a Grade 2 concussion, according to the Boston Herald.

Savard had 10 goals and 23 assists on the season before getting hammered by Cooke. If he’s out, it’ll be a big loss to Boston. "You look at the time he was unconscious on the ice and some of the symptoms he’s exhibiting now, this is a serious concussion," Chiarelli said.

It’s still unclear what punishment, if any, the NHL will give Cooke. League disciplinarian Colin Campbell is supposedly getting some feedback on the subject from GMs around the league at the GM meetings in Boca Raton, Florida.
