Infected hand ends Oilers’ Souray’s season
The day after the NHL trading deadline that didn’t see Edmonton Oilers veteran defenseman Sheldon Souray(notes) change teams, the word on the street is that he may be missing the rest of the season due to an infection in his hand, according to the Edmonton Sun.
Souray has a no-trade clause in his contract but supposedly waived it for potential deals to 19 NHL clubs. He’s under contract till the end of the 2011-12 season.
Teams have got to be happy they didn’t trade for him now that it’s become clear that he’s going to be out till next season with an infection to the hand he recently had surgery on.
Either way, it doesn’t matter much to Edmonton, which is 22 points behind its closest division rival, the Minnesota Wild.
