Blues hand Wings first shutout of season (AP)

St. Louis Blues' Manny Legace, left, makes a save against Detroit Red Wings' Jiri Hudler, of the Czech Republic, during the third period of an NHL hockey game Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, in Detroit. The Blues won 2-0.

Manny Legace wanted to play much better than he did the last time he faced his former team. He did, making 31 saves for his 20th career shutout to lift the St. Louis Blues to a 2-0 win over the NHL-leading Detroit Red Wings on Monday night. It was the first time Detroit, winners of 14 of its last 16 games, was held scoreless this season.
