Predators extend winning streak to 3 (AP)

Patric Hornqvist and the Nashville Predators closed out October with a flourish. Hornqvist and Kevin Klein scored 1:43 apart midway through the third period to lead Nashville to a 4-2 win over the Dallas Stars on Saturday night. The Predators are on a season-high three-game winning streak. Dallas lost for the second time in two nights.

Coyotes tie club record for October wins (AP)

Radim Vrbata scored in the shootout to give the Phoenix Coyotes a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night. Phoenix goalie Ilya Bryzgalov stopped Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf and Teemu Selanne in the tiebreaker to preserve the win. The Coyotes earned their ninth win of October, tying a franchise record.

Niklas Backstrom finally stole a win for the Minnesota Wild on the road, and in the most unlikely of places. Backstrom made 34 saves and the Wild won an away game for the first time this season, beating the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 on Saturday night. "Backy was great," said Eric Belanger, who had the winning goal.

Flyers defenseman Braydon Coburn waited five years for his first two-goal game in the NHL. Then he took care of the feat in 1 1/2 minutes. Coburn scored twice and Scott Hartnell and Matt Carle each had a goal and two assists to help Philadelphia snap a two game losing streak and send the Carolina Hurricanes to their eighth straight loss, 6-1 on Saturday.
