
A bankruptcy judge has rejected both bids to buy the Phoenix Coyotes. Judge Redfield T. Baum turned down the offers of Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie and the NHL in a 31-page ruling on Wednesday. However, he left the door open for the NHL to buy the team if it amends its offer to provide more money to Coyotes owner Jerry Moyes and former coach Wayne Gretzky.

ow that Wayne Gretzky has officially left his $8 million-a-year head-coaching gig with the on-life-support Phoenix Coyotes, there’s word that he could be headed back to the Los Angeles Kings.
Kings GM Dean Lombardi told a Toronto radio station that he had "one more major signing I think will be huge for putting us over the hurdle." That signing is apparently Wayne Gretzky, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Lombardi has reportedly spoken to the Great One informally about bringing him in to be a minister of culture and identity. No word on whether Gretzky is actually interested or not.
