It can’t be a shocker that the Ottawa Senators supposedly don’t even want Dany Heatley(notes) to show his face in training camp, according to the Toronto Sun. The guy surprised the team last spring when he asked for a trade.
Training camp for the team starts on Sept. 12 and general manager Bryan Murray would supposedly love to have a trade in place by then that would send Heatley packing. Rumors persist that the San Jose Sharks have a whole bunch of interest, but might not have the talent to trade in order to get the job done.
Still, Murray hasn’t apparently had a lot of choices to pick from when it comes to Heatley trade scenarios and the rumor is that the team doesn’t want the circus to come to town, which it will on a daily basis if Heatley actually shows up to camp. So Murray may be lowering his expectations on what he’ll get back for Heatley.
Any way you slice it, you can say goodbye to Heatley in Ottawa at some point this season.

Former Detroit Red Wings defenseman Chris Chelios(notes) recently asked his pal with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ron Wilson, if he could use another blue liner for his club. While Wilson said no, there is another team that wouldn’t shake him off. And we’re not talking about any of the Russian teams in the KHL that Chelios was supposedly talking to about playing for.
The Nashville Predators apparently want the 47-year-old to come play for them, according to the Detroit News. Predators coach Barry Trotz has reportedly had conversations with Chelios about it in which they discussed that Chelios might not be loved by Predators fans due to past teams he’s played for. Chelios reportedly told Trotz that he’s loved everywhere he plays.
Look out, Gordie Howe. Chelios could still be playing when he turns 50.
