NHL supports Reinsdorf’s bid for Coyotes (AP)

The NHL believes Jerry Reinsdorf can succeed where Jerry Moyes failed as owner of the financially ailing Phoenix Coyotes. Reinsdorf, the owner of baseball's Chicago White Sox and the NBA's Chicago Bulls, has offered $148 million to buy the Coyotes out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy and keep the team in Glendale, a suburb west of Phoenix. Flames ink Bouwmeester to multiyear deal (AP)

The Calgary Flames have signed star defenseman Jay Bouwmeester to a multiyear agreement. The Flames acquired the rights to Bouwmeester on June 27 from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Jordan Leopold and the 67th pick in the 2009 NHL entry draft. Bouwmeester, a native of Edmonton, completed his sixth season with the Panthers in 2008-09, recording 42 points with 15 goals and 27 assists. Read Original Post Here

Rangers C Gomez to Habs in 6-player deal (AP)

Scott Gomez's brief New York tenure ended Tuesday when the star center was traded by the Rangers to the Montreal Canadiens as part of a six-player deal. The key player coming back to New York is forward Chris Higgins, a Long Island native who is set to become a restricted free agent. Team USA invites 34 to Olympic camp (AP)

St. Louis Blues defenseman Erik Johnson, who missed all of last season because of a knee injury, was among 34 players invited to the U.S. Olympic hockey camp Tuesday for next year's Vancouver Games. Blackhawks, Bolland agree on 5-year deal (AP)

The Chicago Blackhawks and center Dave Bolland have agreed on a five-year contract. Bolland, a restricted free agent, had 19 goals, 28 assists and a plus-19 rating during the regular season. Devils agree to terms with D Oduya (AP)

The New Jersey Devils are keeping Johnny Oduya away from the free-agent market, agreeing to terms with the defenseman on a new contract. The team said Tuesday that Oduya has agreed to a multiyear deal. The 27-year-old defenseman had career highs with seven goals, 22 assists and 29 points last season — his third in the NHL.
