Canucks win in OT, take Northwest lead (AP)

Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo (1) makes a save against the Minnesota Wild during the first period in an NHL hockey game, Tuesday, March 31, 2009 in St. Paul, Minn.  Luongo had 33 saves on the night as Vancouver won 2-1 in overtime.

Roberto Luongo and the Sedin twins have the Vancouver Canucks looking as though they might be a force in the playoffs. The Minnesota Wild, however, are fading from postseason contention. Henrik Sedin scored 4 minutes into overtime and Roberto Luongo stopped 33 shots, leading the Canucks over the Wild 2-1 on Tuesday night.

The Florida Panthers have picked the right time to find a spark for their power play. Richard Zednik and Bryan McCabe scored man-advantage goals late in the second period and lifted the Panthers to a 5-2 win over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. Nathan Horton and Stephen Weiss also scored for Florida, which won its third straight game.

Avs D Macias to make NHL debut Wednesday (AP)

Defenseman Ray Macias is expected to make his NHL debut for the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday night against Phoenix after being recalled from the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL. Leafs sign son of ‘Slap Shot’ player (AP)

The son of one of the notorious Hanson brothers from the movie “Slap Shot” has joined the Toronto Maple Leafs. Christian Hanson, the son of Dave from “Slap Shot” movie fame, signed a two-year, entry-level deal with the team Tuesday. Stars fall in OT, lose seventh straight (AP)

Petr Prucha crashed the crease and got the game-winner. Prucha scored 53 seconds into overtime to lift the Phoenix Coyotes to a 6-5 victory over the Dallas Stars on Monday night.
