Pittsburgh Penguins' Pascal Dupuis bounces a puck on his stick while participating in the NHL hockey team's practice Friday, May 30, 2008, at Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh. The Penguins face the Detroit Red Wings in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Saturday.

The Pittsburgh Penguins might not have another chance like this anytime soon. Not in these Stanley Cup finals, with an exceptional opportunity at home to even up the series with Detroit. Maybe not until they get to the finals again, and who can guarantee when that might be? Down 2-1 in a win-or-else Game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals on Saturday night, the Penguins had a two-man advantage for 1:26 of…

Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Michel Therrien watches the action behind players Ryan Whitney, left, and Jordan Staal, right, during the third period in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup hockey finals against the Detroit Red Wings in Pittsburgh, Saturday, May 31, 2008.

Henrik Zetterberg isn’t scoring. Neither is Pavel Datsyuk. Tomas Holmstrom was injured and out for Game 4. So how are the Red Wings up 3-1 in the Stanley Cup finals, with a chance to close out the young and now desperate Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 5 on Monday night in Detroit? Because Pittsburgh’s big scorers aren’t getting goals either, except for Sidney Crosby’s two-goal blip in Game 3, and…

Babcock not ‘buddies’ with players (AP)

Red Wings coach Mike Babcock has a simple way to describe the relationship between himself and his players. “I’m the coach. They play,” he said Saturday before Game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals. “I have a good relationship with a lot of them. None of them would consider me their buddy. I’m not like that, and I’ve never been like that. Read Original Post Here

In this July 30, 2005 file photo, Luc Bourdon smiles as he tries on the Vancouver Canucks jersey during the first round at the NHL entry draft in Ottawa, Canada. Bourdon was killed in a motorcycle accident near his hometown of Shippagan, New Brunswick, Canada Thursday May 29, 2008. He was 21.

Luc Bourdon received his motorcycle license two weeks before his bike veered into a truck on a winding, two-lane road, instantly killing the rookie defenseman for the Vancouver Canucks. Investigators said Friday that Bourdon’s inexperience on a motorcycle may have played a role in his death. “The impact took place in the opposite lane,” Inspector Roch Fortin said during a news conference at…

Stanley Cup finalists like aging arenas (AP)

Some of the NHL’s best young talent is on display during this year’s Stanley Cup finals. The arenas, well, they’re another story. While players and coaches say Mellon and Joe Louis arenas are star venues in their own right, “young” is not a word used to describe two of the oldest in the NHL. Pittsburgh’s home ice is so outdated it almost drove the team out of town. Read Original Post Here
