Burns’ 3 goals get Wild past Blackhawks (AP)

Brent Burns scored three goals and the Minnesota Wild beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-2 on Sunday in the preseason finale for both teams. The Wild will host Chicago in the regular-season opener on Thursday and both clubs appeared ready to face off in a game that counts. There were several skirmishes, and Minnesota’s Derek Boogaard fought David Koci early in the second period.

Miroslav Satan and Jon Sim scored in the final 5:51, lifting the New York Islanders to a 4-2 victory over the Boston Bruins on Sunday in the preseason finale for both teams. The Bruins took a 1-0 lead when, with the teams playing 4-on-4, Dave Krejci made a nifty move in the New York zone and beat Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro at 5:09 of the first period.
